Dr. Mark Gigliotti DVM
Dr. Mark graduated from Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. While in Veterinary School, he was the president of the student chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr Gigliotti also earned a B.S. in agriculture with a minor in nutrition.
He enjoyed sports while at Elyria Catholic High School lettering in Football and track. As a boy, he grew up on his parent's farm in Vermillion raising horses, cattle, sheep and chickens. On the weekends and summers he would work at his Father and Uncle's veterinary hospital. In 2003, after being in practice for 23 years, Dr. Mark was able to purchase Amherst Animal Hospital From his Father and Uncle.
Dr. Mark met his wife, Mary, during the summer of 1980. They got married in 1982 and now have 5 wonderful children, Matthew, Christine, Lauren, Ju Yen, and Elise. Their family includes "Heidi" a poodle mix and "Hooie" an independent, long haired tabby cat.
He enjoys clinical medicine and surgery and has a special interest in orthopedic surgery and dentistry. Dr. Mark takes in exclusively small animal patients, including exotics (birds, reptiles, amphibians and pocket pets).
Dr. Kristin Yacobozzi DVM
Dr. Kristin has been with us since graduating from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She became a partner of the practice in 2012. She did her undergraduate studies at The University of Findlay where she received a Bachelor of Science, majoring in chemistry with a minor in biology.
Dr. Kristin grew up in Tallmadge, Ohio. Her childhood hobbies included riding and showing horses as well as playing basketball. Dr. Kristin met her husband, Matthew, at Amherst Animal Hospital in 2007. He brought his Golden Retriever, "Bella", in for her puppy vaccines and well, the rest is history ☺
Dr. Kristin has three doggy companions which have unofficially crowned themselves mascots of Amherst Animal Hospital. "Jackson" is a Bernese Mountain Dog, as well as his son "Elliott" and daughter "Movado". She also owns two cats "Willie" and "Gracie".
She is an active member in The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association and The Ohio Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Kristin's special interests in veterinary medicine include soft tissue and ophthalmic surgeries, ophthalmology and internal medicine.
Angie Bronson started at the hospital in October of 2007. She became our Practice Manager in August 2010. She enjoys coaching soccer, horseback riding, fishing and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is the proud owner of three rescue dogs, "Gibson" a Pitbull Mix, "Luna" a Pitbull, and "Kenzie" a mix breed as well as a cat named "Milo".
Valerie Hernandez is a Registered Veterinary Technician who started at AAH in March of 2014. She graduated from Tri-C in 2002 and has been in the field since 1998. She loves spending time with her Siberian Husky, "Meia"," red ear slider turtle, "Kitty" and her family and friends.
Lena Babinsky is a Registered Veterinary Technician. She started at AAH in May of 2017. She has a total of 8 pets that include her 2 dogs, DJ and Jake, 2 cats, Marvel and Dash, 2 rabbits, 1 turtle and 1 horse. In her spare times she enjoys being outside enjoying nature, walking her dogs and horseback riding.
Angie Faulkner has been a surgical assistant at AAH since May of 2017. She lives in Vermilion with her significant other, Fred. She has two children and two grandchildren. She has three cats, Romeo, Juliet and Remi. She loves animals, but is partial to cats. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and her cats. She also enjoys zip-lining, TV, going on motorcycle rides, reading, listening to podcasts/music and going to the flea markets.
Candi Roach has been an RVT for almost 8 years. She started at Amherst Animal Hospital in 2013. Helping animals is her passion but in her spare time she enjoys swimming, music, gardening, reading, watching the Cleveland Indians and most of all being creative. She lives with her husband Bill, 1 dog: Sheba, 3 cats: Cole, Lita, Zuul, and 1 rabbit: Gary.
Dawn Wargo started at AAH in September of 2017 as a receptionist and has recently taken the position of our Purchasing Coordinator. Dawn has been working in the veterinary field for over 20 years. She lives in Lorain with her 2 fat cats, Tater & Opus, and her hedgehog Fez.
Nancy Smith is our groomer. She started at AAH in 2015 and has been in the veterinary field for 7 years. She has one fluffy pup, Sir Charles. When she's not making your pets look gorgeous and feeling confident, she's at home with Sir Charles creating all types of art including painting, diamond art, and crocheting.
Aimee Chapman started at AAH in July of 2017. She currently works within all of our departments at AAH. She has 3 pups: Hazel, Kobe & Jojo, 2 rabbits Fluffer & Buster and 2 guinea pigs, Pickle Pig and Nutella. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family, friends and animals.
Dana Balzer joined our team in early 2018. She currently works in our Boarding department as a kennel tech taking care of your precious animals while you're away. You may see her in the grooming room helping Nancy. Dana currently has 3 pets of her own. Hank, who is a lab/pitbull mix and her two cats Ugh and Fanny Fay. She LOVES senior pets and they have a special place in her heart. When she's not here loving on all the animals, you may find her outside enjoying all parts of nature, walking her dog or she may be at home painting and crafting with her furry loved ones.
Ashley Davis joined AAH in late 2018. She works in our Boarding Department as a kennel tech loving all of the animals as if they're her own. She started in the veterinary field at the age of 15 and hasn't left since. She has had pets of all types throughout her life and currently has two dogs, Roxy and Gary, and one cat, Binx. She has a special place in her heart for pitbulls and bulldogs. When she's not working, she's spending time with her animals and her spouse, Jarred. She also loves photography and is always taking pictures everywhere she goes. She especially loves getting candid shots of her animals as well as others.
Ruthie Cruz joined the AAH team in 2019 as a Receptionist. She has been working in the veterinary field for over 2 years. She currently has five pets of her own. She has four cats Sadie, Thor, Loki, and Kratos and her dog Sky. Ruthie loves that they all have their quirks but are still able to get along just fine. When Ruthie isn't greeting you with a smile and a warming "Hello!", she's at home snuggled up with her animals reading a great book. If the weather is nice, she loves taking her dog for walks.
Andrew Solyom joined our boarding department as a Kennel Tech in 2020. He has been in the veterinary field for one year. He has two dogs, Gunner and Gracie, whom he loves. When he's not at work or in school, he enjoys playing the trombone and creating music. He also likes to put his imagination to paper with drawing.
Meredith Hartman joined our team in 2017. She started in our boarding department as a Kennel Tech and is currently a Veterinary student. She graduated from the University of Findlay in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences, obtained her Masters degree in Veterinary Biomedical Science in 2020 and is currently working towards her goal of obtaining her Doctors of Veterinary Medicine. She currently has one dog, Aboo. When she's not working or studying in school, she's found enjoying the outdoors, reading and spending time with her family.
Debbie Galayda joined AAH in April 2021 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2016 and became an RVT in 2017. She has two dogs, Jack and Baker, and 1 cat, Peeta. She loves being outdoors and enjoying hiking with her boyfriend and dogs, camping, backpacking, gardening and reading.
